Our first newsXpress GROUP ‘SUPER SYNDICATE’ has been a resounding success with the last of the 152 shares selling out this morning. With still 10 days left until the Super Draw this is an outstanding result.
Individually several stores recorded exceptional sales with newsXpress Lowood selling 35 shares between themselves and their second store newsXpress Fernvale, this was after committing to just four shares! They also rewarded the staff member who sold the most shares with a Myer voucher.
newsXpress Gympie also excelled with an amazing 16 shares sold after committing to just five.
newsXpress members have taken up all available opportunities to sell shares in a newsXpress exclusive System 20 syndicate for the Saturday lottery super draw at the end of March. newsXpress members working together on opportunities like this helps reinforce the strength of our group to ourselves as well as to suppliers.
The opportunity was open for barely more than a day before it was fully subscribed by members keen to sell tickets in the syndicate. The syndicate opportunity was developed in association with the folks at Golden Casket – sponsor of one of the awards to be given at the newsXpress conference later this year.
newsXpress has organised a free half day lottery training program to follow our members meeting in Western Australia next week. This training is for newsXpress members only and provides another opportunity for our members to learn and work together on business building strategies around lottery products.

newsXpress Macarthur are celebrating good fortune today as they sold their third major NSW Lotteries prize in little over a month. Graeme Baker and the team this morning sold the 1st prize of $100,000 in the $2 Jackpot. This is in addition to the $100,000 first prize this store sold in the $2 Jackpot leading up to Christmas and also first prize of $1,363,636 in the Saturday $30m at their Kellicar Lane store.
So in all in a matter of a few weeks newsXpress at Macarthur and Kellicar Lane have made 24 people very happy as there was 22 work mates in the Saturday lotto win.
John, Kerry and the team at newsXpress Klemm’s Mildura have the town jumping with the Intralot Christmas Sled this year.
Whilst the product is different to last year, that hasn’t stopped them selling over 600 sleds at $30.00 each with still a week to go before Christmas Day. Intralot have experienced some growing pains since their launch earlier this year but newsXpress Klemm’s Mildura have only concentrated on the positives and as the sales figures clearly show – to the beneift to their bottom line!
The photo to the left features Kerry and Gay with the next order of 30 sleds, packed and ready for pick up.
Gary Baildon and Wayne Case Co-Proprietors of three newsXpress stores on the Gold Coast are still in celebration mode after their third First Division Lotto win in the past 6 months. With each of Pacific Pines, Upper Coomera and most recently newsXpress Oxenford joining the million dollar club the pair have completed a unique hat-trick.
The loyal customers a couple in their 50′s were stunned by the news that they had become instant multi-millionaires.

Hot on the heels of newsXpress Pacific Pines’ $1,000,000 win in last week’s Wednesday Gold Lotto draw comes news that newsXpress Drewvale have replicated this success for a lucky customer this week as well.
The sole winners on each night have become instant millionaires and the store proprietors and team couldn’t be happier to plant a permanent smile on a customer’s face.
newsXpress Lowood have come up with an innovative idea to stimulate sales of their Lotto Syndicates. The recent OZ Lotto Draw saw them set up each Syndicate as a System 11 with 21 shares available, each share costing $11.22.
For each Lotto draw the store sets up at least six Syndicates and have begun promoting a ’6-Pack’ sale. The intrigued customers are then offered a share in six System 11′s at a cost of $67.32.
Calling it a six pack has really got a great sales punch. and Lowood Team Members have now moved on to selling multiple six packs where they sell a six pack for each night.
Sales thus far have been extraordinary and the team have greatly enjoyed making and decorating the store with some simple marketing materials.
Lotto sales throw up a lot of challenges to retailers, however the feeling when you sell a winning ticket makes it worthwhile!
newsXpress Pacific Pines had that winning feeling in last Wednesday’s Gold Lotto Draw selling the $1,000,000 winning ticket to a lucky customer. Well done guys!

newsXpress Eumundi believes in the strategy if at first you don’t succeed try and try again. After setting up an inspiring theatircal promotion for the recent $40million Powerball Draw to no avail they continued to plough on and were rewarded with the sale of a winning ticket in the Saturday Gold Lotto Draw.
A Coast Grand Father was overwhelmed when he checked his ticket at the newsXpress store and was informed he had received a $600,000 share of the major prize pool.
Manni excitedly exclaimed this was the first Division 1 prize in the ten years he has owned the store. The good fortune continued for another loyal customer who took out almost $14,000 for a second division share in the same draw.

newsXpress Kin Kora are always at the forefront of promotional activity and post Mother’s Day is no exception.
The ‘Symply Too Good To Be True‘ display has been up for just over a week and has already generated great sales. With Annette Sym touring Gladstone this week we are hoping for another surge in sales. newsXpress has a fantastic two way relationship with Annette , which is certain to see her reward the store for promoting her title with her reciprocating this support when highlighting her products are available in store during her various speaking engagements.
While the rest of the country may never understand the allure, for dyed in the wool Queenslander’s and New South Welshmen nothing is bigger than State of Origin. With the big game 1 clash only a week away Kin Kora have a full range of merchandise and decoration on sale in a prominent location. Sarah mentioned that the jerseys are out and loyalty is stronger than ever, also if there wasn’t upcoming $20million Lotto draws the promo would consume more of the shop. Just wait until you see what they have planned for game 2 in the Sunshine state!
In what has been a busy promotional time they have also created some fantastic in-store posters thanks to their trusted Toshiba photocopier.
newsXpress Arana Hills sold two second division last week, a $30,000 prize in OzLotto the other a $50,000 windfall in Powerball. It’s all smiles at Arana Hills.
The new brighter newsXpress Bondi Eastgate has resulted from rebranding and being remodeled.
Bondi Eastgate has been chosen to trial the NSW Lotteries LCD advertising screens. This is a very small trial at this stage and it is great to have a newsXpress store in this trial.
newsXpress Whitford City team member’s fill out the lotto numbers at random on the lotto coupons, then roll them up and place them in a “Lucky Dip” Basket near the front lottery counter.
The customers can then select them as a ‘Lucky Dip’ lottery entry to try their luck and purchase these tickets and have them validated for the upcoming draw. The ‘Lucky Dip’ tickets are used as a great up sell tool which customers love!
newsXpress Upper Coomera celebrated recently with a local customer sharing in the jackpot Saturday Gold Lotto major prize. The winning ticket was purchased by the Gold Coast Great-Grandmother who was oblivious to her $400,000 windfall until checking the ticket some days later.

The various Lotto agencies around the country offer great incentives with mega cash jackpots every other week. This enticement is enough for the regular punters but newsagents often find themselves needing to add their unique flair to truly maximise sales.
Two wonderful newsXpress examples have been communicated during the week:
newsXpress Ballarat used the occasion of this week’s $10mil Powerball Draw to link the theme to Chinese New Year. A considerable amount of lucky symbols and goodwill are associated with Chinese New Year celebrations and the idea behind a ‘Year of the Rat’ syndicate was inspired. Sue Neal reports great interest and was appreciative to be able to utilise and modify the newsXpress provided marketing materials.
newsXpress Sun Valley is a creative hot bed, not just in the newsXpress group but the industry whole. This simple yet effective idea to promote their Amazon Scratchits was a masterstroke.
There are challenges associated with a co-operative franchise operation, but the positives such as freedom of creativity such as exhibited here are more than worthwhile.
