We have started with a small display and will build on this as we gather sales data showing what our customers prefer in terms of brand and particular cartridge type.

In addition to brand commitment, newsXpress pitched price competitiveness, excellent customer service and range - all key factors to the regular ink and toner consumer.

Many newsXpress members took part is a special offer for HP branded ink this past week.  The offer applied only to genuine HP product - i.e. product not imported through the grey market.  This genuine offer was put to newsXpress members earlier this week and in three days excellent orders were received.  Participating members demonstrated the value of wise buying of brand name products.

newsXpress is passing on to members the full benefit of the special pricing and thereby enabling newsXpress locations to achieve better margin for this product.

newsXpress has received approval for the HOT Ink! TM trademark.  This is an important recognition for this unique brand under which newsXpress members sell branded ink and toner at highly competitive prices.

Gaining trademark approval was an important part of our plans for the future use of this sub brand within our retail network. It is also evidence of our attention to detail around our assets.

Reinventing the newsagency ink offer

hotink7.jpgnewsXpress has evolved its Hot Ink! offer to keep its 160 newsagent members ahead of the pack when it comes to ink, toner and related products.  While previous Hot Ink! offers have worked very well for us and our members, we knew we could not rest on our laurels.  Hence changes which include four supplier-funded offers.  Two of these offers are exclusive to newsXpress newsagencies.

The two-page brochure, distributed to hundreds of thousands of homes around Australia, is the first of its kind in the newsagency channel in that it promotes coupons, cashbacks and bonuses is a way never used by newsagents.

Historically, newsagents have promoted ink around price using catalogues that look like price lists.  Our goal was to create a professional and compelling offer which separated us from this me-too marketing approach and which worked as a call to action.
